Musical Instruments Needed

Dear everyone: One of the mailing lists I'm on is a wonderful organization called Freecycle (you can google this with your location to find a group in your area), which is basically a Yahoo group of private citizens passing around usable items that they need or no longer need. I've given an 8 year old a violin, a family a king sized bed and received so far a sewing machine for a friend and a laptop, to illustrate the power of this collective. Sometimes posts are made from charity organizations who need stuff, because even if you don't have funds to give to charity maybe you have stuff collecting dust in your home that could benefit others. This one caught my eye and I wanted to share it with you - it looks like an incredible initiative that could have profound effects on otherwise chaotic lives. See if you agree and if you can help. ~ Love, Roben

"Mike Stevens of ArtsCan says they are in desperate need of second hand instruments for the ArtsCanCircle project. One of the main objectives of this wonderful program is to establish musical instrument lending libraries on remote reserves. For years now, Mike has been personally gathering up donated musical instruments from all over the province and driving them to these remote communities so that people, particularly kids, have the opportunity to play various instruments. In January, Mike and his crew are heading up to Kugluktuk in the hopes of establishing a musical instrument lending library there, however, they are completely out of instruments and need some help replenishing the supply. All instruments are welcome.Anyone who would like to learn more, donate an instrument or join us in helping Mike with this instrument drive, please go to http://www.artscancircle.ca/ ."
