From the sad: my friend Pete's cat died. Sad for Pete but also really liked that cat. Palliative team not going very well. Nobody gets a TV moment of an illumination or peaceful death with this one. Sad, sad, sad.
From the happy: Friend Pete is now a Canadian citizen. Husband Ross is almost finished the web commercial he wrote, directed and filmed for the Academy for European Medieval Martial Arts. I got to see what an artists co-op looks like when I presided over the wedding of a couple I met at a wedding years ago. Naturalized gardens on top of roofs - every building in Toronto should have this, would help with pollution. I have copies of the programs I've wanted to learn. Friend from last post is now in the best treatment program in Canada, and wants it. Happy, happy, happy.
From the weird: I felt sick yesterday but went in to work anyway. I think two Mondays in a row would be too much. Last Monday, I was tired and freaked out from fighting a GARDEN FIRE in my front yard in the wee hours. My yard was on fire. Some troglodyte threw a cigarette butt and I woke to the terrify aroma of oodles of smoke. I don't have a hose. It wasn't large enough to call the fire department or wake up Ross, and I didn't want the chemicals from a fire extinguisher killing the plants the fire didn't kill...so with the watering cans with flowers on the side, I did battle. Stayed up late to be vigilant for restart. Got to see a black SUV pull up in front of my charming neighbours house, sullen youths get out and spend 20 minutes just inside their door discussing "the stuff". Well, whatever the kids are calling it these days. Sullen youths not happy to see me in my housecoat with my flowered watering cans, got the official stink eye from the wee little dealers...next house, hand to gods (he/she/it/they/party of 12) I will knock on the door of each house along side and spend 5 chatting and being all judgy.
