June 2nd, the rehearsal

My friends Dan and Kristy had their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner Thursday night, picking me up at work and spiriting me away to a picturesque place in Oakview...Wherever the heck that is. Beautiful location, some concern over rain on the weekend. There was a rain site, a very churchy looking extended gazebo with pews (should have taken a picture) but the preference was for outdoors. I'd printed out agenda's and we ran through the processional and resessional twice, all very orderly. I like to give cues and direction at rehearsals, but not go through any of the actual words and and keep it pretty light because otherwise couples get too nervous or feel like they've been through a ceremony. Rehearsal dinner to follow, BBQ with friends of the family. Absolutely splendid time and all very exciting. Lift home with couple, did some emergency reflexology on their friend who hadn't slept in oodles of time, dropped off her and bride. Groom gave me a lift all the way home and we talked music for the ceremony with fabulous husband Ross. It occurred to me how much I valued my friendship with all of these people, and of how little time I'd spent with them in the past three years. Made a silent promise to get more organized and cut back on the weddings a bit. Life lived is best lived in the company of friends, and it's not like they could get married every weekend...or could they....
