Fight Club

Last Nov, my husband joined the Academy for European Medieval Martial Arts and found it to be a transformation experience. Training from 15th century texts on knighthood and fighting, they teach grappling, dagger and sword fighting. Despite the lingering foot uglies, I went last night and had the best. time. ever. Part due, it's true, to the look of utter joy on Ross' face that I was out, but also due to how well this stuff works. The stances you're taught root you into the earth, so that it's impossible for someone to move you once you're standing right. The blocks work. The attacks really work. The talking and drinking after was fairly fun too. Highly recommended.
Ross also holds a record for most new recruits brought out by a single member - the first rule about fight club is that we must always talk about fight club. Now I see why.
