Okay, so any small thing can kill you as much as save you. And living with constant fear of these things makes one boring and a buzz kill besides...and Napoleon likely died with fewer regrets than the average vegan of today. There's no black and white, but a lot of greens and reds and crunchy colours I am investigating better. Because the ice cream? Totally caved, in a shameful and mythic manner. And I know that I'm going to need the odd angel cookie to really get the most out of 007, and eggy tarts? They're out there. I'm still going to try to be smarter than the average quadruped and get healthier - not just to live longer, because longer isn't necessarily better. But I would like to enjoy the life I have as a healthier person. And from an eco resolution standpoint, this means as local as possible (admittedly not everything because coffee is forever) too. And not a tub of ice crème every single day, with fries and cookies, like dad. Because that is bad with badness.
And also.
The word of the day is quintuple. Means five of the bastards, as in bypass thingies. And still breathing, so far so good. My dad is one tough bastard.
This also means cardiac issues on both sides of the family hedge, with diabetes to boot. Makes the math bad for me unless I stop knee jerking against the knee jerkers and step the heck up.

You know what? Everything (well.. almost everything) is okay to have in moderation. Completely depriving yourself of the things you love is just torture, and will guarantee relapses. When I first went on a diet, I had read somewhere that making one day a week your "reward day" is an effective approach. One day of being "bad" won't kill your diet, AND it makes you happy. :) Now I wouldn't suggest scarfing evil-yet-delicious KFC like I did, but you get the picture. Best of luck to you in that aspect. If you're ever in need of an Angel-cookie fix, you know where to find us. :)
We also wish your father the best. We hope everything goes smoothly!
Much love!
