Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments on Ripley. I understand that as a rescue and then a reno cat she may take years to settle down, so am trying to be patient with the stray feces. She behaves like a happy affectionate cat, big on the yawns and rolling about exposing the tummy - but also kind of nervous, with the big pupils taking in info on possible threats. The professionals (boarders, vet) who've seen her say that she seems a bit daft but well adjusted for what she's been through. I don't know if a) she needs a more stable environment than we can provide, because this is really as good as it gets or b) she's got some wierd kind of kitty retardation. (sigh) I'll talk to Dr. Black about some kitty drugs and see if a magic carpet ride or four will help.

Reprieve for Smelly Cat!
Um I can say this because I'm family - if you think that whilst selling your house your stress levels are normal well then you be delusional. No doubt Private Ripley (demoted due to poor behaviour)is picking up on that stress. You don't have to be screaming or acting differently for four legged friends to pick up on the tension. Consider that the house has to be picture perfect all the time, viewings, open houses, money stresses - yeah this is not normal. And Ripley is not daft - why do people say that about fat people. . .um I mean cats. How rude. She cleverly stopped the husband's snoring, she is making a POINT of missing the box and she likes me - all signs of superior intelligence. Consider this - who is daft? The one leaving cat messages or the one who can't decipher cat messages?
Peace out sister friend.
